Writing Goals for 2020

Lady of Drowning Darkness

My top writing goal is to self publish Lady of Drowning Darkness. At the time of this post, it is currently a messy second draft that will get a major face lift. I’m changing the narrative from one point of view, in first person to three point of views in third person. It’s going to be a lot of work, and I’ll have to make time for it, but I am excited for how it will turn out. It is family focused, and those are the kind of stories I really enjoy, but can’t find a lot of. I have no publication date to give. I have a potential one, but I’m going to wait until I start the final draft before formally announcing it. If I have to push it back again, then fine. I am in no rush to get my stories out there. I know rushing will hurt the quality of my stories. I don’t want to push stories out there, and then regret it. More updates will hopefully come for this!

Short Story/Novella Collection

Not every story idea I have is a novel length idea. I started writing short stories/novellas again at the end of 2019. I’m wanting to have a collection of 16 to 20 short stories (or 10 novellas – I haven’t decided anything solid quite yet). It’s a long term project that will take awhile to do (like years). I have 3 stories so far, but only one has a completed first draft. The other two are currently be outlined. The goal for this project, is to get out all of the stories that have been haunting me and holding me back from doing other projects. I just need to get it out. I need to flush it out, and make it real. Every story I write will be given the same amount of love. Going through multiple drafts, and be given simple covers just for the sake of another creative outlet for myself. This collection won’t have a single genre, it’ll be a mix. It’ll be whatever is brewing in my brain. So far the stories are urban fantasy. I’m going to try and make the writing as flowery, atmospheric as possible. As a reader, I’m very much into lyrical writing. The kind of writing that captivates every sense, and is very whimsical. Don’t expect any kind of updates for this project anytime soon, just know I’m working on it.
