Reasons to Use the Libby App
My reading life changed for the best when I started using the Libby app! Libby is a free reading app where you can check out books using your local library card. If you don’t have excess to a local library card, Libby provides you with one. Here are some awesome reasons for you to take advantage of this app!
- It’s free
- It’s a digital library, so you can read wherever you go! Your phone, your tablet, whatever works.
- It’ll help control your physical book buying. I know my appeal to buy books has gone down dramatically. Anytime I see a book I’m interested in I always check to see if I can borrow it off of Libby. I’m trying to break the habit of buying books before I’ve read them (unless they are a sequel, or an auto buy from a favorite author), which is difficult for avid readers like me.
- It has almost everything for any kind of reader. There are not just novels on Libby! There are graphic novels, text books, magazines, how to guides, books for every age, and even more. You don’t have to be a bookworm or avid reader to use Libby, anyone can.
- You can create lists, and we love lists. There are your Loans list, which are the books you currently have checked out (for 21 days). Your Holds list, which are the books you have on hold and are waiting to read. Your Tags list, which offers a TBR list, a Like list, and a Dislike list. I personally only use the TBR tag, because I see no point in the other ones, but that’s just me personally.
- Waiting isn’t always a bad thing. A lot of complaints I hear about Libby are the wait times for books. Yeah they can surpass six months or so, but that’s not always the case. I’ve once put a hold on a book that had a six month wait, and it became available after month. Something that said it’ll be available in a few weeks, can then show up in a few days. There are multiple copies of books, and it speeds things up when people DNF their copies, or delay their deliveries. Besides, you can read whatever is gathering dust on your physical TBR in the mean time 😉
I hope all of these reasons help you have the best reading life possible! Thank you for reading! I have a new blog post every Wednesday.
