Bookish Wonders

December Reading Wrap Up | 2021

Welcome to the last reading wrap up for the year of 2021! In the month of December in 2021 I read 4 books, and enjoyed all of them.

I finally gave into the hype and read this book, and I wasn’t disappointed! This book was adorable, hilarious, and one I couldn’t put down. Not only does it have gay representation, but bi and lesbian representation as well. It has a political side plot, but it’s very tame and doesn’t really matter until the very end of the book. I had a lot of fun reading this, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I highly recommend spending the time to read this!

I saw this cover in passing a few times, and bought the book for my friend for Christmas (I read it before wrapping it for her). It was a fun read! Didn’t take long, and it had good representation of someone who is young, closeted, and just wanting to time to experience life without having the pressure of trying to be someone. Not having it all figured out, and just living. The art was vibrant, and beautiful, and the content was just spot on. I highly recommend this to anyone to read.

I knew going in that this book was going to be different from Red, White and Royal Blue, and that is okay! I loved how it was different, but was in the same vein of cute, funny and wonderful queer love between two girls. This book also focused on found family, and the black out of New York City from 1977 (so some history entwined in!). I couldn’t put this down, and is totally worth the read!

I was absolutely determined to finish THE BETRAYED before 2021 ended. It was the finale book to Kiera Cass’s THE BETROTHED duology. This was such a weird little series, but I didn’t hate it or anything. Or, I should say that it’s weird compared to her previous work I have read. It wasn’t super addictive like her THE SELECTION series, but was interesting enough to keep me hooked. This isn’t one of those series I would recommend to everyone, it was an okay read. If you’re wanting something scaled down but interesting enough in between heavier reads, I would recommend it then. But this duology is sitting on my Favorites shelf next to the rest of Cass’s work.
