Bookish Wonders

August Reading Wrap Up | 2020

>> Hello all! Time for another monthly reading wrap up! I read 8 books in the month of August. Two were novels (tomes, really), and the rest were graphic novels. Shout out to Libby to making it possible for read graphic novels for free! Be sure to check the app out if you haven’t yet. I am satisfied with my reading progress for August!

Novels I’ve Read

>> Following my plan to re-read a Harry Potter book July – October: I finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in August. Before August, I haven’t read this book since maybe 2007 or something. The point is, it’s been a very long time since I last read it.
>> Naturally, I didn’t remember anything. I love reading these books with adult eyes. It’s such a different experience compared to reading it as a child. Order of the Phoenix has always been my favorite installment in the Potter series, and this reading solidified it even more. Have a mentioned that the game and soundtrack are amazing as well?
>> Anyway, I gave it five stars, because this book makes my rebellious heart sing.

>> I was so excited to read this book… and I was not disappointed. Shout out to Stephenie Meyer for delivering a Twilight book to us during a global pandemic! I had so much fun reading this. It was a portal to my freshman year of high school where I read all four books in a week.
>> This book is so much better than Twilight in my opinion. Seeing everything from Edward’s perspective, and in a way from everyone else’ perspective, was so refreshing and fun! We got to spend more time with the Cullens and learn so much more about the other characters in the Twilight saga. If you have ever been a Twlight fan, I highly recommend giving this book a go!

Graphic Novels I’ve Read

>> Since these editions are in the middle of a series, there isn’t much I can say about them, except that they get better as it goes on. I’m completely invested in this family and the adventures they get themselves into. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes stories with family, love, battles, mystery, and a good belly laugh. These are available on Libby!

I read this because I had enjoyed Nimona so much! It was a quick, and charming autobiography! I’m always attracted to queer coming of age content, and this did not disappoint. The end made my heart so full. It’s available on Libby!

>> This adorable love story was a perfect way to wrap up my reading month! It was a quick read, and something I think everyone should read. Talks about dreams, identity, accepting others with love, and having the guts to bet on yourself. We need more queer stories like this. It’s available on Libby!

Thank you for taking the time read this! I have a happy and healthy week!
