April Reading Wrap Up | 2021
I only read one book in April, because reading slumps suck. Let’s talk about it.
The Betrothed by Kiera Cass
I didn’t plan on reading this book. I had heard it had bad reviews, and took it off my TBR. But then, a reading slump came upon me and I couldn’t get anything done. I picked this up because I thought it would be an addictive romance read to get me out of my slump (just like The Selection). Well, it DID get me out of my slump, however, it was not a romance. Not really.
It had a weird and tragic ending, which is probably why the ratings are so bad. Readers thought they were going to get a fluffy romance, but got a tragic book with a clever ending instead. I was disappointed it wasn’t a romance, however, I did end up enjoying the book anyway. The ending is so clever, and it definitely makes me want to read the second one. Readers forget that all because a book doesn’t give you the ending you want, that doesn’t mean it’s bad!
I don’t give this a broad “read this!” recommendation, but if you’re someone like me that likes weird and clever books, give it a shot. Just don’t expect a happy ending, because there won’t be one. Sometimes we have to be okay with that.
Thank you for reading my very short reading wrap up for the month of April! Hopefully I’ll read more books in May (mood willing)! Happy reading! See you next month!
